Sports Booker is a specialist software design and development company. The company is dedicated to providing customers with reliable, low cost, easy to use on-line booking and customer management systems for the Leisure, Sports, Entertainment and Retail sectors and is based at the e-Innovation centre, School of Technology, Wolverhampton University, Telford.
Our customers include Surf Schools, health clubs, gyms, Water Ski, Wake-Board, Squash, Tennis, 5-a-side, Sailing as well as hotels, Leisure centres and Theatres in both the private and public sectors. The current product portfolio includes systems for handling access control, bookings, membership administration and payment.
Sports Booker is a cloud based system developed at the West Midlands Water Ski Centre in 2001 and was incorporated in September 2011. It was so successful that it has subsequently been developed for a range of new markets. Sports Booker software is now used on 4 continents.
The Management team includes:
Simon James – Founder Director of Sports Booker with overall responsibility for customer support and technical development.
Simon has over 25 years of experience within the sports and Leisure sector. He was the founder and managing director of Laser Quest in 1989, which operated in 22 countries under his direction
He is a Microsoft Certified Solutions developer and specialises in database development.
Richard Drinkwater - Director, Is responsible for Customer sales and marketing.
Richard has over eight years experience of leisure sector management , prior to this he was marketing director for a large multi-national corporation. He is passionate about providing excellent service and ensuring that customers get sensibly priced products that meet their needs.
Martin Elliff - is responsible for software design & development.
From University he learnt his trade at two Internet Service Providers and has previously worked with major brands, government organisations, as well as a number of small to medium sized businesses.
He is responsible for Software Applications Design, Information Architecture, User Experience Design and access.
Piers Taylor - is responsible for all data management operations at our secure data centre.
The Data Centre features UPS protection with on-site generator backup and filtered ''clean'' power. A sophisticated air conditioning system ensures the network and computer systems operate as efficiently as possible.
The Servers have multiple connections to the Internet backbone. Twin fibre optic feeds run into the Data Centre and connections are then switched across to the servers using the gigabit internal network. If any of these were to fail, support staff are alerted.
